The EUROMARFOR flag was hoisted at the Italian Fleet Headquarters, during a simple but full of significance ceremony.
For the next two years the Commander in Chief of the Italian Navy will exert the command of the EUROMAFOR, a maritime force that stands from a nearly 30-year commitment between France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, to make their forces available in support of maritime security throughout the wider Mediterranean region. EUROMARFOR is a non-standing, pre-structured, multinational Maritime Force, to support primarily the EU security and defence requirements on the maritime domain in crisis management, cooperative security and maritime security.
